Pacita Dizon Notarte was born on May 28, 1926 - the 6th child in a family of 11 (excluding a sibling who died as infant). Father was an educator/School Principal and mother was a businesswoman. Pacita met her future husband, Macario prior to World War I but during their courtship, WW ll erupted and they lost touch from each other. But God has His way of making the impossible, possible because they met again during Liberation and love was rekindled. Pacita and her husband were married in May 1947 and raised 5 boys and 2 girls and fostered a daughter since she was 9 (she’s now 71 years old). This doesn’t included less fortunate young people who they put through high school and college.
Pacita finished her degree when she was pregnant with her first child in 1948 and furthered her education by getting her Master’s degree from the University of the Philippines 18 years later- juggling between her full time job as a University counselor and teaching college students and raising teen-agers. She has earned numerous awards and recognition as an Outstanding Educator. Pacita likewise held positions in the United Methodist Women’s Fellowship and taught Sunday School regularly until she retired to the US in 1990.
Pacita will be sorely missed by her children and their spouses - Raniag (widow of Ernesto), Angelito & Merly, Abner & Che, Rachel & Jim, Joel & Elizabeth, Josue and Amy, Marilyn & Mike and foster daughter Ludy, 25 grandchildren (one in heaven) and 29 great grandchildren. She will likewise be missed by her surviving siblings in New York and South Dakota as well numerous nephews and nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A visitation for Pacita will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, California 92504.
