Lester Windon Messer, Jr., was born on December 14, 1923. He was a long time resident of Harahan, Louisiana and passed away on August 12, 2019. Lester was born to a farming family in the Texas Panhandle, just prior to the great dust bowl.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater, and was a career employee of the Shell Chemical Corporation in Norco, Louisiana. He married Catherine Dolores Landry in 1948, who pre-deceased him in 2006. He is survived by two sons, Todd Messer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and David Messer of New York City, New York.
Services will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana with Visitation from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A Memorial Service in the Leitz-Eagan Chapel will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Catherine Messer's honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
