He Served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957, and reenlisted in the Navy Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1961. Once Louie returned home from the war he completed his high school education and began he career as a painter, utilizing many of the skills he had learned in the Navy. Louie was a reverent Christian man; he was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, Alabama until he was unable to go due to illness, but he never lost his faith. In his younger years Louie was an avid outdoorsmen; he enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting, especially turkey.
Louie is preceded is death by his parents, Edgar and Della Smith Leach; brother, Delco Leach; sister-in-law, Doris Allen Leach; and brother -in- law, Hargis Davidson.
He is survived by his sisters, Flora Leach, and Edna Alline Davidson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Louie will be held Monday, August 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mars Hill Baptist Church, Jemison, Alabama. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will occur Monday, August 19, 2019 at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Jemison, Alabama.
