Surrounded by family, Bill left this world on Friday, August 16, 2019 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, William Theodore Bayer, Jr.
Born on August 8, 1952 in Rantoul, Illinois, Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elaine Adams Bayer, Son and wife, Mitchell (M.G.) Bayer and wife Danielle; Sons Eric Bayer and Kyle Bayer; grandsons Brady Bayer and Braesyn Currie; mother Georgena Bayer, brother Chuck Bayer and wife Vicki, brother Ken Bayer and wife Maria; a nephew, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A nationally recognized high school debate champion, Bill was also a National Merit Scholar. He graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College, Brunswick Maine in 1974 and earned an MBA from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts in 1989. During his professional career, Bill worked in marketing and sales for tech companies in the Austin and Boston areas.
A man of many talents and interests, Bill enjoyed traveling, cigars, wine, and working on cars, especially British sports cars. He was an outstanding cook and some of the families’ favorite dishes that he prepared were chicken marsala, chicken parmesan and double stuffed rock Cornish game hens.
An avid camera collector and photographer, Bill provided professional quality photo services for many of his friends’ weddings as well as photographs of Boston sports teams and rock and roll bands.
Bill loved to tinker and could fix practically anything in the classic Bayer way, using his mind, duct tape and WD-40.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. David’s Round Rock Hospital for the care they provided Bill during his brief stay.
A celebration of life will be held at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills at 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 PM.
