He was born in Brooklyn, NY on 26 July 1934. He enlisted in the Navy, served his country proudly and was honorably discharged in February 1957. On May 25th, 1957, Charlie married his high-school sweetheart and “honey” Evelyn. Charlie continued to serve his country working as a Civil Servant for the next 30 years as a Project Director and Logistician for the Navy. Over the next 25 years he worked as a Government Contractor in Orlando. He retired in 2009. They lived in the same home in the Winter Park Pines for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Krott Wagenhauser. Also survived by his children: Christine Galante (Jeff); Kathie Hunter (Rex); Mark Wagenhauser (Vikki). His beloved grandchildren include Valerie Forbes (Brian), Michael Galante (Alyssa), Jessica Greene (Timmy), Matthew Hunter, Brandon Wagenhauser, and Kayci Wagenhauser. As well as his great-grandchildren Makenna and Eden Forbes, Harper and Kinsley Galante, and soon to be great-grandson Parker Greene.
Every member of his family from kids to great-grandchildren brought him great pride and joy.
He had a passion for coaching his son’s little league team, bowling on several leagues, taking pictures of his family, building model planes and trains, and building a beautiful life with Evelyn. He was a long-standing member of the Winter Park Mason Lodge 239. He was the patriarch of his family and leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 12pm with the funeral service to follow at 1pm. Funeral arrangements will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Charlie’s name be sent to Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
