He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Theresia Eaton, along with two brothers, David and John Eaton and sister-in-law, Julane Eaton (David).
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jana Eaton; a son, Christopher Eaton (Michele) along with granddaughters, Madison and Cara Eaton and Alex and Erin Healey; a daughter, Joanna Benson (Matt) along with granddaughter, Parker Benson; a brother, Jim Eaton; sisters, Mary Folsom (Ed), Carol Eaton Thompson (Jerry Kozuch), Judith Blackwell (Geoff); and sister-in-law, Linda Eaton (John); mother-in-law, Vada Boone (George); sister-in-law, Gina Bird (Micheal); and brother-in-law, Bill Purvis (Angela); along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Rockford, IL, on July 12, 1947, Joe moved to El Dorado in 1974. He worked as a driller for Charlie Smith Exploration until 1976 when he went to work for Walter Griffin as a bricklayer and stone mason.
In 1986, he joined the El Dorado Water Utilities where he retired as Superintendent in 2013. He was currently hired by the Water Utilities as a consultant for the past 6 years. He enjoyed fishing with longtime friend Dwayne Mathews, listening to live music, playing chess, and shooting pool with his son-in-law and friend Matt Benson. He thoroughly enjoyed the friendships made at the Water Company over the years, especially his friend Charles Omar Brock. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Parker and watching Cubs baseball.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Young’s Funeral Directors.
