Gloria Fragnito was born in the Bronx, New York to Joseph E. Fragnito and Adelaide (Autullo) Fragnito. She was the third of 12 children and the oldest girl. Gloria grew up in the Bronx and, during World War II, worked at a lamp factory in Manhattan. It was there, in 1946, that she met her future husband, Jerome D. Pecoraro, for the first time. She always told the story that the first time she saw Jerry, she told her co-workers that he was the man she was going to marry. They met when she offered to sew a button back onto his coat. They were married on April 24, 1948 and soon moved to Hicksville, New York on Long Island. It was there that they had their only child, Vincent Louis Pecoraro, in 1956. Because Vince was often sick, Jerry sold his advertising art studio (Berin-Pecor) in 1961, and the family moved to Southern California. They eventually bought a home in Canoga Park, CA and lived there for over 25 years. When Jerry retired from the commercial art business in 1989, they relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina where they lived for another 25 years. In 2014, Gloria and Jerry moved to Ann Arbor to live with Vince and his wife, Peggy Carver. Over all these years, Gloria was a loving and devoted wife and mother. As the oldest sister, she was the matriarch of her family and served as a superb role model for her siblings and their children. She had a wonderful talent for designing and making crafts and was a superb cook, often hosting large family gatherings at holiday times. Gloria was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her siblings Michael, Edward, Ralph, Maria, Anthony, Yolanda, Margie, Filomena and Josephine. She is mourned by her husband, son and daughter-in-law as by her sister Adelaide, her brother George and all her siblings children. Gloria passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2019 after a long illness. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3 from 10-11 am at Muehlig Funeral Chapel at 403 S 4th Ave, Ann Arbor and followed by a private graveside service at Forrest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice Fund.
