Dolores was born December 6, 1937, in Lampasas, Texas to Henry John Nauert and Clara Amanda Meissner Nauert.
She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Copperas Cove. She was baptized as an infant, attended grades 1-8 at Immanuel’s Christian Day School, was confirmed there April 6, 1952, and was married there July 18, 1959.
Dolores graduated Salutatorian of the 1956 graduation class of Copperas Cove High School. Throughout the years, she was involved in various activities. In her younger years, she belonged to the Walther League. At Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dolores sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, taught Vacation Bible School, attended bible class and was a member of the Altar Guild. In 1987, she helped organize the Altar Guild and was its’ Chairman for 18 years. While working for CCISD, she belonged to COVESA. After retirement, Dolores enjoyed groups like Copperas Cove Retired Teachers and DIVAS.
Her work experience included jobs at Ekensten’s, Western Auto, and at Cove State Bank as Head Teller and Assistant Cashier. The majority of Dolores’ work experience was 21 years spent working in the education field with Copperas Cove ISD. She was a Deaf Education Aide for three years, LRC Aide for two years and Secretary in the counselor’s office at the high school for 16 years. In the last few years she greatly enjoyed serving as a reader to the younger children at Halstead Elementary School.
Dolores’s hobbies were reading, crafts, working on scrapbooks and photo albums, and researching genealogy on both sides of the family. The pride of her life were her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping up with them through phone calls and visits whenever she could.
Her husband, Jack Ayres, preceded her in death in 2011, after 52 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with three children and six grandchildren.
Dolores was also preceded in death by her son Michael, her parents Henry and Amanda Nauert, and her grandparents Gus and Emma Nauert and Otto and Emma Meissner.
She is survived by two daughters, Melanie Dunn, MD and her husband David Dunn, MD of Nashville, TN and Marsha Fauver and her husband Scott Fauver of Cypress, TX; six grandchildren, Christopher Ayres, Johnathon Ayres, Alex Dunn, Brooke Fauver, Courtney Dunn and Brandon Fauver; a brother, David Nauert and his wife June Nauert of Gatesville, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
