Born January 2, 1936 in Ghent, Minnesota
Died September 3, 2019 in Englewood, Florida
Gil grew up in rural Minnesota, played high school basketball for Minneota, MN and then went on to play at Winona State.
After college he started to work for Northwestern Bell. In 1957 he joined the National Guard and then married Evelyn Halbur in September, 1960. In 1965 he was transferred with Northwestern Bell to Omaha, Nebraska, where his three sons, Philip; and twins Joseph and John were born. A very proud three years for Gil. Then it was back to Minnesota and White Bear Lake. During the 1980's Gil held a variety of positions while the Bells were separated from AT&T. He stayed with AT&T as Marketing Vice President until he retired in 1992 at the age of 56. He was a very devoted father and grandfather and, of course, the kids could do no wrong. He now resides "Somewhere over the Rainbow" his favorite song.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons Philip, Joe (Sharon), John (Lynn), three granddaughters: Rochelle Regnier Zabadal (Zach), Jennifer, Katie and two grandsons, Michael and Andrew.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.
Services will be private for the family.
