George, who was 38 and born in Marietta, Ga., ran his family’s business, Contract Services Company, for over a decade, earning the loyalty and respect of his employees and some of the largest general contractors in Atlanta.
George loved his family dearly. He leaves his wife and loving partner of more than 20 years, Florentina (Tina), and their two children, George (5) and Amelia (3). He also enjoyed a deep, wonderful connection with his parents and cherished the many friendships he developed throughout his lifetime.
However, his greatest joy was his children. He was always a ‘child at heart,’ which connected him closely with his children, whether jumping on a trampoline, playing hide-and-seek or digging in the dirt.
George and Florentina met at a Braves game and they carried forward that tradition through a 20-year relationship and 13 years of marriage. They celebrated many of their wedding anniversaries at Braves games.
George, who never met a stranger, had a manner that lightened any situation. He cherished his friendships made at the Westminster Schools and at Auburn University, where he was a member of SAE fraternity.
In addition to his parents, George and Mina Adams, George leaves a sister, Laura Lee Pearson, and a nephew, Garret Pearson. He also leaves his parents-in-law, Christa and Royce Hayes.
He was pre-deceased by his brothers, John and Sam Adams, as well as his “shadow”, a dog named Chance. George and his father were not just father and son, they were best friends.
George loved the outdoors. One of his most favorite times was trips to the river with his children and dogs.
As a child himself he loved playing with trucks in the dirt, which presaged his career as operator of a successful hauling company.
Among the major construction projects with which he was involved were the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport expansion, Sun-Trust Park and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
George was general manager of his family’s business, Contract Services Co., which began in 1973, and will continue operating, as George would have wanted.
George truly loved his work at the company he and his family built together. He was well known and loved in his industry for his honesty, loyalty and for being a man of his word. George thought of his employees as family and was proud of the successful team they made.
George was a member of the Capital City Club, ABC Builders & Contractors Assoc. and GHCA Georgia Hwy Contr. Assoc.
