Sybil Margaret Cleary, 97, passed away September 5, 2019 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She died quietly with dignity, just as she had lived. Sybil was born April 24, 1922 in Elgin,Illinois to Carl and Flossie [McBride] Parkin. Sybil always had a love for art and wanted to attend the Chicago Art Institute. However, she met and married the love of her life, John “Jack” Cleary, soon becoming a mother instead. She still took the time throughout her life to use her creativity and to do some artwork. She used her creativity in cooking and baking as well. She was an avid reader of all types of books and was very involved with her book clubs. She and Jack enjoyed traveling to destinations all over the world including Ireland and China. She enjoyed playing tennis until the age of 83. She was also active in bridge and P.E.O. throughout her life. Sybil was a quiet, refined woman, beloved by many friends over the years. She loved helping others and spent many hours helping at her church in Mesa, Arizona. She also enjoyed her church life at St. Nicholas Anglican Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. This marvelous matriarch will be greatly missed by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cleary and her daughter, Kathleen McCulloch. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Don Carlson, her son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Karen Cleary; her son-in-law Bill McCulloch, her grandchildren, Jennifer Carlson and Jonathan (Andrea) Carlson and Heather and Dylan Cleary as well as her great-grandchildren, Maximus and Ashley Carlson. She felt she had a wonderful life, having married the love of her life, having three wonderful children, four terrific grandchildren and two darling great-grandchildren. We already feel the void after having been spoiled by her constant presence in our life. Yet we feel blessed for having had her in our lives for all this time.
