Barbara Ellen Bonsell

BARBARA ELLEN BONSELL (nee Brey), passed away peacefully on September 4, 2019 in Aurora, Ohio at the age of 92. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Kenneth. Barbara is survived by daughters; Patty Kempf (Kenneth) and Penny Bonsell, grandchildren; Andrew Kempf (Jackie), Trevor Kempf, Natalie Truong (Danny), Nicole Meschke (Nate Kuzmeski), Nathan Meschke, Nina Meschke, Nolan Meschke, great-grandchildren; Raelynn Kempf, Ryland, Remy, Rosie Truong. Barbara was born on May 13, 1927 in Connellsville Pennsylvania and moved to Cleveland as a young child. Barbara graduated from Lincoln West High School, Baldwin Wallace College and Oberlin Seminary. Pepper Pike was her home for 43 years. She spent many summers as the dietician at Hiram House Camp and was Director of Christian Education at Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church and Mentor United Methodist Church. She also studied and lectured on the Dead Sea Scrolls, including at the Chautauqua Institute. Barb loved history, travel, and was an avid reader. She was a talented artist, who also enjoyed bowling, camping and knitting. She adored her family, and loved creative adventures with her grandchildren, including tea parties, art lessons, trips to museums, and midnight ice cream parties. Memorial Service 1:00 pm Saturday September 21, 2019 at Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church, 3650 Lander Road, Pepper Pike, OH 44124.
