Monica is survived by her brother Winston who called her Ms. Ethel, her sisters Maureen who she affectionally called her black sister and Marva, her four children Terry, Lavonne, Orlando and Belinda. Monica was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 1 great grand. and a large extended family.
Monica was a selfless, God fearing, loving, giving women who will be missed for kindness, smile and quick wit. Monica kids are going to miss her singing when she was cleaning and when she was mad at someone. Along with all of her infamous sayings: “fah true true”, “who help you buy a big foot move don’t help you feed it”, “you think I making mock sport with you”, “you will see what God you serve” and “cheese on brothers”. She also loved saying: “you have to cut your nose to spoil your features” when she was advising you on something you didn’t want to do. She was famous for telling her granddaughter Monica she cackled like a common street bleep.
In her last days, Monica kept her faith. You could often hear her saying “when my Lord is ready for me, He will take me, and I will be with him.” Even as her dementia worsen, the one constant in her life was reading the Bible throughout the day. Monica’s faith left no doubt which God she served and who’s arms she is now resting in.
