Mr. Cox passed away September 6, 2019 in Tyler after a brief illness. He was born August 30, 1944 in Canton to R.D. and Nita Fay Owens Cox.
Bobby Joe graduated Canton High School in 1962 with perfect attendance through all 12 grades. He worked in the oil and gas industry for fifty years and had retired twice. Bobby Joe was a founding member of Trinity Church in Canton and currently a member of the Believers Church in Canton. He enjoyed team roping, fishing and loving on his grandkids.
Mr. Cox is preceded in death by his parents, R.D. and Nita Cox; and two brothers: Ronnie and Tommy Cox.
Bobby Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jan Cox of Canton; son, Mark Cox and his wife, Rachel, of Lindale; daughter, Melanie Trammell and her husband, Shawn, of Canton; four grandchildren: Jordan Phillips, Andrew Cox, Breanna Trammell and Ella Cox; brother, Dennis Cox and his wife, Sharon, of Argyle; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff of both Mother Frances Hospital and Hospice of East Texas for their excellent care and compassion during Bobby Joe's illness. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.
Family will receive friends and family one hour prior to service.
