Hartley Willard Gibson passed away peacefully at Gateway Lodge in Prince George, BC on Monday, September 9, 2019 just a few days short of his 79th birthday. He was born and raised in the beautiful tropical Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and moved to Canada in 1963. He married Amie Rosaline Shuffler in 1965 and they lived for 16 years in Canada, mostly in Labrador City, Nfld., where their two children, Chris and Suzanne, were born. Hartley worked as a control room operator and heavy-duty mechanic with the Iron Ore Company of Canada, and in 1979 he returned with his family to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where he worked as an auto mechanic and a welder until retirement. In 2016, as a result of health issues, Hartley and Amie both returned to Canada and settled in Prince George at Gateway Lodge.
Hartley spent many happy hours hunting and fishing wherever he lived. He also loved messing about with engines, playing dominoes with family, playing his harmonica and singing hymns but, most of all, he loved doing whatever he could to support the homeless Ministers that visited his home.
He is survived by his wife, Amie Gibson, son, Christopher Gibson (Janet), daughter, Suzanne Mazereeuw (Jonathan), 9 grandchildren Loren, Tana, Danelle, Gena, Chase (Chris), Chelan, Jayda, Coral, and Bronya (Suzanne), siblings, Evol, Carson, Cecelia, and Doreen, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
