Robert Bruce Kite, 63, of Yakima, WA, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a 7 year battle with ALS, in the comfort of his home on Sept. 11th, 2019. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba January 24th, 1956.
Dr. Kite worked for Memorial Hospital serving as Medical Director of Outpatient Occupational Medicine. Outside of work, he was an avid cyclist, hiker, and scoutmaster and scaled Mt. Adams several times with his sons. He was active in his church and the community, regularly participating in the Gap2Gap.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Kite, father John Kite and his wife Cathie, brothers Greg Kite and wife Outi and Philip Kite and wife Gale, his five children, Ryan Kite and wife Elaine, Trista Kite and husband Kirill Federspiel, Candace Crockett and husband Tyler, Joseph (Joey) Kite and Brandon Kite, and ten grandchildren, Ethan, Maya, Jordan, Bronson, Anya, Aila, Cameron, Gabriel, Sveta and Callie. He is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Mortimer and daughter Larissa.
Dr. Kite was assisted throughout this trial by his wife Joyce and son Joey, as well as many members of his church, the ALS association, and Virginia Mason Memorial Hospice Care.
Visitation will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Summitview Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 705 South 38th Ave., Yakima on Friday, Sept. 20 at 12 noon.
