John Robert Hill

John Robert Hill age 81 of San Antonio went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2019. He was born June 23, 1938 in Baytown, Texas to James Albert Hill and Gertrude Elizabeth Kelly Hill, who preceded him in death.

John was married to Shirley Boyer Hill for 24 years before her death in 2011. He is also predeceased by his brother, Jim Hill.

John was very passionate about his family, and loved to golf, hunt and fish. He was always quick with a joke and his family will dearly miss his kindness, humor and steady guidance. John was a member of Cornerstone Church for more than 30 years. He remained active in the church and the Home Ministry Groups until his health no longer allowed him to attend.

John is survived by his children, Cheryl Gavrel and husband Pete, Tom Hill and wife Leonora, Julie Beardmore and husband Rob, Beth Elderton and husband Carl, Mitch McCabe, Michael McCabe and wife Shawna; grandchildren Johnny Gavrel and wife Melanie, Tommy Gavrel, Clayton Hill, Ryan Hill, Regan Hill, Robbie Beardmore, Joshua Beardmore and Ashley Beardmore, Daniel Murph and wife Karin, Stella Miller, James McCabe and wife Kabrina, Amber McCabe, J. Paul McCabe, Olivia McCabe, Jacqueline McGilvray and husband Shea, and Christina Finney; his sister Elizabeth Mutchler, and brothers Joe Hill and wife Starlene, and Charlie Hill and wife Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

John’s grandsons will be his pallbearers.

There will be a visitation at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494 on Sunday, September 15th beginning at 5:00 pm. There will be a celebration of life service beginning at 6:30 pm.

There will be a visitation in San Antonio at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232 on Thursday, September 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 am, the Vada Hagee Prayer Chapel at Cornerstone Church, 18755 Stone Oak Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78258.

Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH 10 West, San Antonio, TX 78257.
