It is with great sadness that the family of Loel Jamolo Arroyo announces his passing on Saturday September 14, 2019. Loel passed away peacefully at his home in Stockton, California at the age of 61 surrounded by his loved ones.
Loel was born on April 2, 1958 in Banate, Iloilo Philippines. He is the middle child of three born to Luis and Mercedes Arroyo. He graduated from Banate National High School in 1974. He attended college at Iloilo Doctors College of Nursing and graduated in 1980 with a BSN degree in Nursing. He worked at Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center in Manila prior to working in Saudi Arabia in 1982. He worked as a nurse at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh. In 1993 he came to Stockton, California where he met his wife of 24 years Maria Elizabeth Lim Arroyo. They both worked at Chateau Convalescent Hospital. They were married November 25, 1995 and later had their son Shawn Patrick Lim Arroyo.
Loel loved his many jobs as a registered nurse, and worked at many locations including St. Joseph's Behavioral Hospital, San Joaquin County Jail, and Fremont Hospital for many years.
Loel enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit. He enjoyed gatherings and sharing good food with everyone. He and his wife recently celebrated their birthdays with his sister, niece, and nephew in Las Vegas April of this year. They also travelled to New Zealand ,Fiji, and Melbourne Australia with his sister and brother in law in May. This summer he enjoyed a month in the Philippines to visit with his younger brother and family.
Loel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Maria Elizabeth and son Shawn, sister and brother-in-law Myrna & Edgar Penaflor, and brother and sister-in-law Ever & Rosalie Arroyo; nieces Krystle, Michelle, Cheryl and their spouses; nephews Jude, Mark, Michael & spouse; and the BRIDLEWOOD FAMILY. He will be fondly remembered by great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, several cousins and relatives here and in the Philippines, as well as countless classmates, colleagues, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Luis and Mercedes Arroyo.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel. A Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel at 11 a.m.
