Joseph William Robert Roy passed away peacefully, with his daughters by his side, at the Androscoggin Hospice House on Tuesday, September 17th. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 26, 1941, the son of William H. Roy and Juliette B. (Beaudry).
From the time he entered this world, he was a force to be reckoned with, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Fate brought him the love of his life (Dolly Ann Daigle) at Sabattus Lake, and they wed on January 7, 1967. He was a loving and devoted father of two daughters, Martine and Sonia.
He proudly served his country in the Army from September 28, 1962 to September 27, 1965. Beneath his tough exterior, he was a gentle soul who showered orphans with gifts, love, and compassion while stationed in South Korea. He spent the last sixteen years of his life with his partner, “le blonde,” Louise Dufour. They shared a zest for life, and shared many adventures together. Along with riding motorcycles, they took several trips, from Las Vegas, and Sturgis, to Florida, and Graceland, Joe’s love for her knew no bounds, and grew with each passing day.
Also known as Joe Bob, he had a hard working, yet daring spirit. From piloting his own airplane, and deep sea fishing boat, to owing a food trailer, race horses, and a limo, there was no job too big, or task too small. A dedicated employee, and passionate businessman, Joe did everything from working for Country Kitchen, and selling lobsters at Tacoma Lake, to owning a pub, fish market, and a tractor-trailer business. And most notably, he started the acclaimed Lewiston Boxing Club, which still stands today.
Joe leaves behind his partner Louise Dufour; daughters Martine, and her husband Paul Vaillancourt; Sonia, and her husband Joe Strout; sister Cecile Roy; brothers William, and his wife Darlene, Paul, and his wife Darlene; grandchildren Sarah Turner, and her fiancé Robert Franklin; Emily Turner, and Jacob Strout. As well as Louise’s children; Jay, and his wife Mauri Dufour, Curt, and his wife Karen Dumais, Lynsey Dufour, and her partner Morgan Marx; and her grandchildren Camren, Conner, Chad, Kati, and great granddaughter Joslynn.
