We celebrate the life of our remarkable friend who died Sept. 23 at age 82. Survived by his beloved partner, Gloria Stevens, his cousin Peter Romano and his wife Cecilia and many longtime friends.
Born in Manhattan he grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and participated in numerous sports, particularly hockey.
He joined the Navy and obtain the Rank of Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class. After the Navy he trained as an actor at Stella Adler Theater Studio. He had roles in the Theater, on Television, and in Film, including Taxi Driver, Marathon Man, and the Good Bye Girl.
Robert was regarded by friends as a Big Apple Bon Vivant and Raconteur. His passion was hockey. He played in Senior Leagues in Manhattan in the middle of the night and was a life-long fanatic New York Rangers fan.
Visitation 10 - 11 AM Wednesday September 25, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM at the Walter B Cooke Funeral Home, 352 E. 87th St. New York, NY, followed by the interment at Calverton National Cemetery 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY.
