Heinz Kratzmann's soul has left us for a better place, carried there on the wings of his unshakable faith in his Saviour. Heinz, the 3 pound prematurely born infant was not expected to live. But live he did. A large life indeed for a man who never weighed over 125 pounds. Heinz, the boy who could outrun bigger and older competitors, who was an amateur gymnastics instructor and a provincial league handball star back in his native Germany. Heinz the reluctant midshipman in the Navy of the Third Reich. Then the carpenter who could. The father to only one son whom he inspired by example.
But Heinz was a devoted husband to three wives, all of whom predeceased him. Isn't the norm one wife and three children?
While Heinz Kratzmann did not try to stick out from the crowd, he was, to those whose lives he touched, an exceptional man, with commitment, conviction and, when needed, courage.
To those who love and miss Heinz, his son, Peter, and spouse Tracy, granddaughters, Vanessa (John), Meredith (Giovanni), and great granddaughters Lydia and Lulu, his nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany and all of his Brothers and Sisters in Truth….he was a lasting example and inspiration to them all.
In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the North Okanagan Hospice House in Vernon, British Columbia; Canadian Cancer Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation in Heinz's memory.
