Ruth E. Francis of Pocasset, Mass. passed away on September 28, 2019. Ruth was born in Taunton, Mass. on September 1, 1925 to Mary N. (Rose) Gilman and Roy E. Gilman. After graduating from Taunton High School in 1943, she was employed by the New England Telephone Company for several years. Ruth served as a Red Cross volunteer during WWII.
On June 6, 1946 Ruth married the love of her life, Milton Craig Francis. Together they shared 73 years of happiness. During her lifetime, she and Craig raised a family, traveled abroad, and enjoyed contentment in daily activities and quiet evenings spent at home.
Ruth delighted in visits with her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandson. The beauty of Vermont’s summer lupine and brilliant fall foliage gave her great pleasure, as did local outings, reading, playing Scrabble, and backyard birdwatching.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Craig; her daughter Ketha (Francis) LaSalle and husband Stuart of Gilford, NH; her son Milton Francis, Jr. and wife Vickie of Pocasset, Mass. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Scott Francis of Manhattan, NY; Kara LaSalle of Gilford, NH; Amy (LaSalle) Mancini, her husband Robert Mancini, Jr., and Ruth’s great-grandson James Mancini, all of Sugar Hill, NH., as well as nieces and a nephew.
A private family service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at a time to be announced.
