Mr. Frank McLean Stewart Jr.(Nank), passed away peacefully with family members by his side on Monday, September 30, 2019 at John Knox Manor in Montgomery, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank McLean Stewart Sr., and Effie Williams Stewart. He is also preceded in death by his sister Betty Stewart and his brother Edgar Stewart. Frank was born June 25, 1934 in Montgomery Alabama. He was raised on McLean Stewart Dairy Farm in Hope Hull, AL. He attended Pintlala School in Hope Hull from 1940 to 1949, served 4 years from 1945 to 1949, as a page in the Alabama Senate then attended Lanier High School from 1949 to 1952. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute(now Auburn University) from 1952 to 1956 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and earned a degree in Building science in August 1956. He was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1956 and was sent to Fort Jackson, SC for basic training. Although he expected to be put in the Corps of Engineers, he was sent through Advanced Infantry training after which he was sent to Korea. Upon arrival in Korea, he was assigned to the Post Exchange Service Company whose mission was to supply all goods to all PX's in the division. His initial mission was to design and supervise all construction in his compound. Due to winter weather in Korea, all construction was over in early December after which he became the PX manager and was the only PX manager in the Army not an officer. He met the love of his life in 1957 and was married on May 1, 1958 to Breezie Reeves Stewart. Frank worked for Algernon Blair Commercial Construction Co. for many years where he started as an estimator and worked his way up to Vice President. He was involved in many large construction projects around the country. He also was the major shareholder and Chairman of the Board at Builders Supply Company, a local ready mix concrete company in Montgomery. Frank loved his family and always attended any events that his children were involved in. He also had a passion for Auburn football, fly fishing for bream, hunting doves and playing golf at Montgomery Country Club. He loved playing cards and especially Bridge. Frank and his partner competed in a National Bridge competition while at Auburn, and they finished in the top 3 in the country. He continued his Bridge play until recently when he won a local Sr. event and also organized a weekly game at Oak Grove Inn. God blessed Frank with a very sharp mind and a sharp wit that everyone enjoyed. He was really a fun loving guy. He also was blessed with many life long friends that he spent alot of time with through the years. He enjoyed the Poundstone Sunday School class at First Baptist Church and enjoyed hearing Jay Wolf's messages each Sunday while he was still able to attend. He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Breezie Reeves Stewart; a daughter: Mary Kate Stewart (Katie) of Atlanta, GA and two sons: Frank McLean Stewart III (Tank) of Montgomery and his wife; Angela Moore Stewart (Angie); Howard Scott Stewart of Montgomery and his wife; Vickie Roten Stewart; 6 grandchildren; Robert Chase Stewart(28) and his wife; Ashley Romano Stewart(29), McLean Scott Stewart(23), Ann Morgan Stewart(20), Elizabeth Ann Stewart(15), McLean Duvall Stewart (Mac)(13), and Thomas Reeves Stewart(13) and one great-grandchild; Jackson Scott Stewart(20 months). His grandchildren loved to call him Daddily and Grandaddy and he always loved to sneak them candy. A celebration of Frank's life will be held in Stakely Sanctuary at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL on Sunday October 6, 2019 at 3 PM. The family will greet friends and family before the celebration, beginning at 2 PM.
