Marie Thérèse Aubrey (nee Poirier) died on Thursday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 100 following a brief illness. Thérèse was a devout Catholic who lived her life in the service of others. Her professional career spanned decades as a manager with the federal government in the Department of Veteran Affairs. She is predeceased by her father Philippe Poirier and mother Eugenie Poirier for whom she provided daily care until her death at the age of 103. She is also predeceased by siblings Bruno, Adrienne, Father Aurele Poirier, Father Jean-Paul Poirier and Simone Beauchamp, all of whom she attentively tended to prior to their deaths. Thérèse was also a “bon vivant” who met the love of her life at the age of 50 and married Edmond Aubrey. They shared ten happy years travelling to many parts of the world together prior to his death. She is survived by niece Lyse Simpson (Bill) of Scotland, nephew Pierre Beauchamp (Marcia) and nephew Jean Aubrey as well as many great nieces and nephews of the Simpson, Beauchamp and Aubrey families. The family wishes to thank Sister Anita Paquette of the Grey Nuns for being such a wonderful friend to Thérèse. Thanks is also extended to Windsor Park Manor where she lived the last few years. Visitation will be at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Road (Ottawa) on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick’s Basilica, 220 Kent St (Ottawa) on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shepherds of Good Hope, 256 King Edward Avenue (Ottawa), one of her many favorite charities would be gratefully acknowledged.
