George F. Lane, 86 of East Hartford, Loving husband of 63 years to Lenore (Octigan) Lane, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019. George was born in Norwich, CT son to the late Richard E. Lane and Helen E. (Busch) Lane. The youngest of five, George was predeceased by his four siblings and his granddaughter Pamela Lane. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School Class of 1951. George was hired by Bell System/Southern New England Telephone Company as a Cable Splicer’s Helper. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1953 – 1955. After returning from service, George continued to work at the phone company over the next 31 years. He went from Cable Splicer, to Cable Testman eventually retiring as a Cable Splicing Supervisor from Southern New England Telephone Company. After an early retirement at age 49, George spent years enjoying his hobbies: carpentry, woodworking, pickling and using his John Deere to manage a small vegetable garden and chrysanthemum farm. His passion for carpentry inspired the opening of his own home improvement business, “Limited Additions”. Later in life his hobbies would grow to include golf, cooking and helping Mom frame her many paintings. He followed UCONN men’s and women’s basketball and the Red Sox. He enjoyed visiting Cape Cod and taking the love of his life, “Nore” out to dinner. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by all who loved him. Especially his wife Lenore, their six children & significant others; Ken & Gail Lane (Niantic, CT), Kathy & Rich Brewer (Somers, CT), Jackie & Fred Cote (East Windsor, CT), Jim & Linda Lane (Colchester, CT), Peggy & Ed Duclos (Ellington, CT) and Michael Lane & Sarah Mazzadra (East Hartford, CT). Along with his 13 grandchildren, three and soon to be five great grandchildren. The family thanks all of George’s caregivers, especially his doctors, nurses and staff of Kimberly Hall South. Family and friends are welcome for a gathering, Saturday, Oct. 5th, 2019 from 11:00am -11:30am at St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford and followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 11:30AM.
