Dan passed away peacefully with Bonnie by his side and surrounded by family and friends. Marsha, the resident cat of the hospice and who was a great comfort to him during his illness was also there to guide his spirit along the away.
Dan is survived by his wife Bonnie, Claire Lapalice-mother, Ben Coutu-brother, Sylvain Coutu-brother, Lance Schmidt-brother-in-law and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A very heartfelt thank you to Dr Nataros and the staff at The Hospice at The Views for their kind and compassionate care of my husband during his illness. I would also like to thank 19 Wing Fire Department and 888 Wing (Komox) for their support during this difficult time.
Born in Montreal, Dan joined the Canadian Forces in June 1980 where he served as a Firefighter for over 35 years.

After his retirement from the Canadian Forces he worked for Enterprise Car Rental as a driver, a job he enjoyed immensely. Dan also served as President of 888 (Komox) Wing of the RCAFA 2018-2019 and was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2019-2020 and remained in that position until his passing.
As per Dan's wishes there will be no service.
