F. Trent Cassel (Trent), 58, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Trent was the deeply loved husband of Charlene. Beloved brother to Deborah (Steven) Rusch, Gregory Cassel, and the late Jeff Cassel. Adoring uncle to Jennifer (Christopher) Salutric, Steven Rusch, and Kathleen Rusch. Loving nephew of Barbara and Kenneth Mannino. Trent was a graduate of Downers Grove South High School, and attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Trent was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, and lived in several different places, including Stamford, Connecticut; Geneva, Switzerland; and Sydney, Australia, before his family settled in the Chicago area, hometown of his late parents, Fred and Patricia (nee Trent) Cassel. He played many sports while growing up, including a Little League baseball team coached by his father, hockey, track and cross-country running.
Trent’s caring nature, deep interest in others, quick wit, old-fashioned courtesy, and ready willingness to lend a hand made him a unique and favorite friend to many. Although shy, he reached out to others with a genuine interest in their lives, and even casual acquaintances were drawn to his kind and open personality. His analytical mind and love of sports made him a virtual encyclopedia of sports knowledge, and he could always be counted on to tell a fascinating sports story. Trent was known for his outstanding sense of humor, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh, finding the humor in everyday life or relaying a hilarious joke.
