Funeral services will be held Saturday October 12th at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1702 Iowa Street, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday October 11th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home, Jersey Ridge and Kimberly. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery following the service.
Jack was born in 1951 to Jacob and Elizabeth Krch in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, he joined Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, and found Jesus under the guidance of Rev. Howard Rice. He began a life of service while at Oberlin College, establishing a city/college presence in the town’s six nursing homes. Later at Yale Divinity School, he studied to become a pastor, he grew as a band leader and composer, receiving the Downs Prize for creative worship and publishing 2 hymns in the Yale hymnal. Jack then came to Davenport, Iowa where his work especially in youth ministry and creative worship touched many lives. He led youth clubs and teen groups, established several bands, wrote and directed the rock opera, “Heroes,” and led one of the first Dixieland Worship services in the Quad Cities. It would be impossible to list all of his many accomplishments in the ministry. More recently, he brought his inspiration to several churches and organizations in Florida. He lived a life of service, devotion to God and love for his community.
Jack is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Jacob (Jenny) Krch; stepson, Michael Stone; sister, Elizabeth Cole and brothers, Leonard Krch, Robert Krch and Russell Krch.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
