September 10, 1989 - October 10, 2019
A bit of the world’s light was lost on Wednesday, October 10, 2019 following the passing of Kyle M. Crampsie, age 30, in Los Angeles, CA.
From one coast to another Kyle’s life journey was one of BIG leaps and bounds - ups and downs - and one worth pausing to gather inspiration from for your own life’s journey.
Growing Up BIG
The youngest of his brothers and cousins - Kyle was never the littlest - he grew up BIG. His broad saunter, BIG smile, and determination often made people second guess his young age and sometimes overlook his kind heart and impressionable spirit.
As most kids do, Kyle’s ambition of keeping up with the “bigger” kids kept him zooming. Even with a countless number of broken bones, casts, stitches, bumps, and bruises - you could count on Kyle getting up and trying again - coming back with even bigger gains and bigger wins.
BIG Smile
“Smiley Kylie” he was lovingly called with the brightest smile that could light up a room and a belly laugh that would cheer up the gloomiest of days. Kyle’s spirit was infectious - almost magnetizing - and drew you in to listen a little closer. If you ever took the time, you would understand how genuine his interest in you was. And once invested - Kyle’s commitment to you was thorough - oftentimes, to his own detriment.
BIG Mountains
It’s no secret that Kyle was battling addiction. His summits were tall and tough to climb, but never did he look at them and say “ this is far enough.” He pushed to climb - to continue the journey to recovery. Along that road, he helped lift up others who were struggling as he was. He helped build bonds, and his family and community grew stronger for it.
A BIG Piece of Courage
Kyle’s courage was his most admirable trait. Not many people have the courage to look in the mirror and truly embrace it all - the good, the beautiful, the bad, the ugly - Kyle did. He recognized them all and was courageous - brave enough to take action to pursue something better - something more than what others expected of him. Every time Kyle fell he was right back on his feet ready to try again and try harder. He was a risk-taker and a go-getter. Fearless.
BIG Commitment
One of his NA mentors shared that Kyle was most drawn to their fellowship’s tradition #5. To put it simply, this tradition’s purpose is to carry the message of hope and recovery to addicts who still suffer.
His fellowship in the NA community is nothing short of inspirational. From welcoming and showing new members the ropes and lending a helping hand wherever he could, to leading as a detox tech - Kyle’s commitment to himself and dedication to others with the courage to battle addiction was a commitment he didn’t take lightly.
BIG Dreams
More than anything, Kyle wanted to influence people. He had the courage to bow down to the pits and valleys where others were and he had the strength to spot them as they were working their way up - together.
He strived for recognition and loved for people to call him by name. Through his own journey, he found his calling and endeavored to become a NA mentor and circuit speaker. That mix of compassion, commitment, and courage towards others is not common these days - and it is where Kyle shone the brightest.
BIG Holes
With such a BIG soul - you can only imagine the vastness of the void we’re feeling by his loss. Our hearts ache for all the memories that could have been. The dreams that were never made a reality.
If we could keep a part of Kyle with us, let us keep his courage. His ability to stand tall when we are feeling low. To brave the storm of tomorrow. To accept the things we cannot change with bright eyes and a brighter smile.
Leaving behind his father, Daniel Crampsie, mother, Cindy Crampsie and brother, Christopher Crampsie - Kyle’s soul will find peace as he joins his eldest brother, Nicholas Crampsie with our Heavenly Father.
BIG Legacy
Part of the courage that Kyle possessed was the ability to win his life story. Not only to motivate himself but oftentimes to connect with people and identify and inspire their own journeys.
Whatever your journey - your story is - the BIG Legacy that Kyle inspires in us today is to own it - don’t let it own you!
Just for today, as we remember Kyle - his love and life let us …
• Lift each other up to live and enjoy life.
• Have faith in someone who believes in us.
• Gain a better perspective on our lives.
• Be unafraid.
We are proud of your BIG Life Journey and will forever miss your kind spirit and your BIG SMILE.
