Mr. Joseph Allen Peoples., 62, of Saks, passed away at his home on Oct. 20, 2019. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at Covenant Life Ministries, 2327 Alexandria-Jacksonville Hwy on Sunday October 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Luther Thomas Peoples and mother, Margaret “Jackie” Strickland Peoples. He is survived by two sisters, Jenny Peoples Gallman (Taylor) and Susan Roberts Estes (Ronnie) along with a niece and several nephews.
Joe was a resident of Calhoun County for most of his life. He graduated from Saks High School in 1976 and went on to earn both a B. S. in Business and an MBA from Jacksonville State University. Joe worked as an accountant for Hughes Corporation, the State of Alabama, Habitat for Humanity and others.
Early in his life, Joe attended the First United Methodist Church of Saks. In his final years, he experienced anew the fullness of God’s amazing grace and the promise of eternal salvation.
The family would like to thank the many people who loved and supported Joe in the last years of his life, including the dedicated people of Apple Cleaning Services, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and Elite Images. His life gained greater meaning through the relationships he built within these communities. Although Joe encountered physical limitations, he did not allow them to deter his effort to serve others. He continued to use his generous spirit, compassionate heart and sharp mind to encourage, guide and teach in the areas of business and personal finance.
Joe will be deeply missed by both friends and family. A wonderful way to honor his life would be through donations made to Habitat for Humanity. For many years, he worked tirelessly to promote and support this organization, and was strongly dedicated to their exceptional cause.
