He was a member of the Thomasville Church of Christ and was devoted to and loved his wife and family. Dwight thoroughly enjoyed life – playing golf 5 to 6 days a week, playing country music on his guitar, writing and singing songs for his family, and just spending time with friends and family.
Dwight is survived by his wife of 67 years, Annette Idol; his 2 daughters and son-in-laws: Susan and Dan Allen, McKinney TX, and Sherry and Mike Newnam, Willow Spring NC; his 3 grandsons: Brandon Newnam (and wife Susan), Raleigh NC, Geoffrey Allen, New York City, and Joshua Newnam (and wife Aeriel), Angier, NC; his 4 great-grandchildren, Will Kirk, Sarah Kirk, Addison Newnam, and Arya Newnam; 3 sisters Donna Braswell, Linda Garrett, and Sandra Sigmon; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Whitney Allen (October 21, 2017); his father and mother, Guy and Ollie Idol; his 7 brothers (Elbert, Devon, Bernice, Edsel, George, Lawrence, and Larry); and 2 sisters (Ginny and Erla).

A memorial service and family visitation for Dwight will be held Friday, 2:00, at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue, High Point, NC.
