Doris Irene (Hynes) Corsini, 87, passed away peacefully on October 23rd, 2019 at her home in Sandwich surrounded by family. Doris is survived by her loving husband of 63 years T. Vincent Corsini, Jr., and her seven children and their spouses,
Vincent and Jeanette Corsini of Hopkinton, Julie and Chris Sweet of Plymouth, David and Lee Anne Corsini of Plymouth, Donna and Paul Gagnon of Sandwich, Lisa Huban of Quincy, Jennifer and Ken Simons of Bermuda, and Peter and Rachael Corsini of Sandwich. She also leaves her 21 grandchildren, Sarah, Erin, Johnny, Christopher, Derek, Ethan, Amanda, Michelle, Emily, Amy, Sam, Timothy, Olivia, Hannah, Mathew, Lucas, Chloe, Hope, Owen, Natalie and David; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Sawyer. They were all “so precious” to her. She is survived by her brother, Michael, and joins in heaven her parents, Michael J. and Doris (Dee) Hynes, sisters Martha, Isabelle and Joan.
Doris grew up in Jamaica Plain and attended Girls’ Latin School of Boston. On occasion, she and her friends would jump the fence at Fenway Park to watch her beloved Red Sox players. She attended Tufts College where she met her love Vinny, made many life long friends and cultivated a love for reading and learning; graduating with a B.A. in English Literature.
Doris showed her creativity and passion for the fine arts through her oil and watercolor paintings and drawings. She was a talented seamstress who created her daughters’ bridesmaid gowns for five weddings, First Communion dresses for her granddaughters, baby blankets, Halloween costumes unmatched by anything you could buy, pajamas for the grandchildren, window treatments to adorn not only her home but those of her family; the list is endless. Doris had an eye for beauty that she lovingly shared through her tireless devotion to her work in the church bazaars at Saint Bridget’s Parish in Framingham. Her creativity and passion for the Arts and Crafts which she shared through the years became a hallmark of the parish annual event, only to be eclipsed by her unwavering spirit of volunteerism which she offered so freely.
Doris and Vincent moved to East Sandwich where they found their forever home. She continued to express herself in her garden and the beautiful landscape that she created with flowers. In her selfless way, she spent her time volunteering at the Sandwich Public Library, stocking and selling used books. An avid reader, she was knowledgeable on all topics and loved a challenging conversation.
No house or table was too small because her heart was so big. Her legacy is her family and her proudest project.
Visiting hours will be Sunday October 27th, 3pm-7pm at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, Sandwich Ma. A funeral service will be held on October 28th at 1pm at Chorpus Christi Parish Sandwich, Ma followed by burial at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
