The family moved to New York early in Jack’s life. He received a regents diploma from Sacred Heart High School before majoring in Sociology and minoring in Economics at Fordham University. There he received his Bachelor of Science in 1954. He also attended New York University before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Jack rose to the rank of Lieutenant as he proudly served his country in positions such as Senior Director in Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, Training Supervisor, Legal and Claims Officer, Base Provost Marshall, and Safety Director. Jack was industrious from an early age. He stocked shelves part-time before beginning his sales career in sporting goods at Davega Stores through high school. He worked his way through college selling men’s furnishings at Wallachs and as a bell clerk in the summers at Lake Spafford Hotel in New Hampshire. After his enlistment, Jack found his career home at General Electric. He worked as a Branch Order Specialist, Builder Sales Specialist and eventually, District Builder Sales Specialist. He was such an exceptional salesman, securing large federal and municipal contracts as well as expanding their client base and territory, that Jack was given the name “GE Jack”. A kind and generous man, Jack was a volunteer fireman for more than 40 years at the Riverview Fire House in Hastings. He was also an active member of the Elks. Jack succumbed peacefully on Thursday October 24, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Left to cherish Jack’s memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Marion “Angel” Hayduk; four children, Lori Delvalle (Frank), Susan Ryan (William), Amy Huelsman and Eugene Huelsman (Kim); four step- children, Karen Heggarty, Andrew Hayduk, Brian Hayduk, and Eric Hayduk; three grandchildren, Frankie, Kyle & Cooper, five step grandchildren, Alec, Andie, Collin, Hudson and Campbell and a community of neighbors and friends. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday from 3 to 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Yonkers NY on Tuesday October 29th at 11 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Riverview Fire Department 83 Euclid Ave Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
