A lifelong resident of Athens, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Clyde E. Harper and Nannie Lou Combs Harper. She graduated from the University of Georgia and retired after many years as a teacher in various schools in Northeast Georgia. She was a member of Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a musician, including playing the violin and singing in the choir. She was also involved in United Methodist Women. Mrs. Brown was an artist, songwriter, storyteller and full of life.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell Brown; son, Harry Todd Phillips and brothers, Clyde D. Harper Sr., Charles E. Harper and David B. Harper.
Survivors include stepson, Barry Brown; nephew, Clyde Harper; and step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Gayla.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luis Ortiz officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service.
