Tom was born July 6, 1936 in Grand Saline to Otto and Coy Eason Turner. After graduating high school, he married Glenda Campbell and began an almost 64 year partnership. Glenda was the love of his life. Tom operated a gas station for a short time before joining the Air Force and serving four years. He then earned his degree and began his 25 year career with Texas Instruments. Tom was a Quality Control Engineer with ASQC credentials. One of his career highlights was his involvement with the Voyager 1 Space Probe. After retiring from TI, he moved to California and worked for Isola.
Tom was quite a character. He often introduced himself as "Mot Renrut," his name spelled backwards. Tom was a member of the Ham Radio Operators Association in Tyler. He even learned Morse Code after he turned 80 years old. He loved flying, traveling and Country Gospel Music, especially Gaither Music, Gene Watson and Willie.
Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Coy Turner; sister, Betty Jo Turner; and his brother, Robert Turner.
Tom is survived by his wife, Glenda Turner of Tyler; daughter, Belinda Turner Hendley of Malvern, Arkansas; son, Terry Goodman of Tyler; granddaughter, China Moss and her husband, Lee Uhen, of Bellingham, Washington; great-granddaughter, Elena Moss of Bellingham, Washington; and nieces: Lisa Foster and Chris Noel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. This is KG5BWP signing off.
