Georgia B. Fitts Anderson was born May 12, 1914 in Calera, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward and Ava (Baldwin) Carter. She passed from this life October 27, 2019 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 105 years, 5 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; her five brothers and four sisters; her first husband, Clyde Fitts; her second husband, James Anderson; and her son, Mike Fitts. She leaves behind three grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Georgia moved to Blue, OK at the age of 9. They lived across the street from the school and church. She never missed a day of either. She joined the Baptist church at age 14 and was baptized in the Blue River. It changed her heart and her life. She was a school teacher in Idabel for eight years. She loved teaching the little ones. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1941 and became an instructor at Tinker Air Force Base where she retired 21 years later.
Georgia was a Rebekah for 30 years. She also volunteered at Will Rogers Airport. Georgia had many wonderful stories and life experiences. She walked in the snow on top of Pike’s Peak, saw the sunrise over the Grand Canyon, went to the bottom of the Royal Gorge. She also loved to dance. Clyde and Georgia waltzed to the big band music of Lawrence Welk in the Arregon Ballroom in Chicago, now she will dance to the strings of Golden Harps with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of Georgia’s favorite bible verse, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable with thee, Oh Lord, My strength and My Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
