HIGH POINT – Lorene Laughlin Gallimore, age 86, formerly a longtime resident of Thomasville, went home to be with her Savior, Christ Jesus, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at her and her daughter's residence in High Point.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home with Reverend Bynum Orr officiating. Interment will be at Holly Hill Cemetery. There will be no scheduled visitation or graveside service due to Karen’s pain and other health problems.
She was born February 21, 1933 in Denton, NC to the late Harris Arthur Laughlin and the late Ada Yates Laughlin. Lorene graduated from Denton High School and attended Ashmore Business College. She married Winfred Gallimore on September 21, 1951, who predeceased her in 1992. Lorene was a bookkeeper for Colonial Country Club until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for children and participated in other church activities as needed and able.
Lorene was always devoted to Winfred and Karen. She was dedicated to keeping their faith in Jesus central to their daily lives and always had scripture and spiritual poems ready to begin holiday dinners and other gatherings of family and friends. After retirement she studied and completed Bible Study Fellowship offerings. She was a skilled caregiver of her parents in their older years. Years of her life were committed to caring for Winfred and Karen, both of whom had multiple health problems.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jamie Laughlin and an infant brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Gallimore of High Point; and a number of nieces, two of whom are Lisa Sullivan of Phoenix, AZ and Amy Segal of New York, NY.
Please, no flowers or green plants due to Karen’s allergies and asthma, unless they are for Lorene’s gravesite following the interment. Memorials in her memory may be made to the local Salvation Army or Carolina Memorial Baptist Church missions.
