On Friday, November 1, 2019, Marguerite Jean, loving mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 96 at the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park. Marguerite Jean was born on March 15, 1923, in Jeremie, to Adelaide Dubreus and Moleus Jean. She was one of eleven siblings. She attended primary school at the Notre Dame de Lourdes. Later she joined the Valentine Magloire boarding school, where she completed her education. She raised two daughters, Vedette and Liliane, and two grand-daughters Gamard and Betty.
She was a formidable businesswoman and ran her commerce for over 70 years in Haiti. Marguerite had a passion for drawing. She also loved the arts and she combined her two favorite interests to create an amazing business. She enjoyed singing, dancing, telling jokes, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She relished cooking various festive meals which was the highlight of every holiday. She was known for her quick wit and her sense of humor. Above all, she remained in prayer and was faithful to the Lord our savior.
Marguerite Jean was preceded in death by her mother Adelaide Dubreus, her father Moleus Jean, her sisters Charlotte, Bernadette, Adelaide, Cornellie, Andree, Anna, Ava, and her brother Rodrigue. She is survived by her two daughters Vedette Simon and Liliane Jean-Destra, two grand-daughters Gamard Simon and Betty Alcindor-Lewis, three great-grandchildren, Kalaun, Kayla and Kyle Lewis, son in law Andrew Lewis and Jacques Destra, her two brothers Lemaire Alerte, Marcorel Fils-Aime and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
R. Stutzmann & Son Funeral Home in Queens Village have been entrusted with arrangements. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16th, 2019, at R. Stutzmann and Son Funeral Home located at 224-39 Jamaica Ave. Queens Village, NY 11428.
The viewing is as follows: November 16, 2019: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. The funeral services will immediately follow the viewing at 11:00 AM. After the funeral services, Ms. Marguerite Jean will be laid to rest at the Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum. The address is 2030 Wellwood Avenue Farmingdale, NY 11735. The family will drive to the location and welcomes others to follow, as well as join them at the Repass, located at Chez Mirelle’s located at 170 Post Ave Westbury, NY 11590.
