Mrs. Gloria Jean Lee Roque was the only child born to Mrs. Gussie McDonald on July 3, 1940. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church when she gave her life to Christ at an early age. She later became a member of Warren United Methodist Church where she continued to strengthen her relationship with Christ. Gloria Jean, as she was called by all who knew her, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. Her love of music and playing the classical piano led her to pursue a degree in Music from the historically black Bishop College. Following her graduation, she went on to become a beloved music teacher for the Dallas Independent School District.
Gloria Jean was devoted to her children and became a homemaker during their early development as they traveled to many different countries. She was a huge sports fan and enjoyed cheering for her Texas teams, including the Rangers, the Mavericks and especially the Cowboys. She also enjoyed playing sports and won many trophies playing softball and bowling. Her biggest joys involved spending time with her children. She loved caring for her eldest daughter, attending the State Fair with her son and visiting her youngest daughter in Atlanta. Over the years her service in church was extremely important to her as she served as a piano player, choir member and an after-school tutor. Important to her also was her service to the community. She also was an active member of the YWCA and the Lincoln-James Madison Class of 1958 Alumni.
On Thursday, October 31 2019, Gloria Jean Lee Roque entered into her eternal home of Glory. She was welcomed by her mother, Mrs. Gussie McDonald.
