Ivan Cohron Trotter, 88, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2019 in Greenville, Mississippi after a long illness. She was a longtime resident of Mobile and Dauphin Island. She was born on May 18, 1931 in Mobile. Ivan graduated from Murphy High School and attended Huntingdon College. On June 22, 1950 she married Charles Lawrence Trotter, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Her husband's career took them from Mobile to Memphis, Tennessee and Charlotte, North Carolina. At each place she created a loving and welcoming home and made enduring and long-lasting friendships. Following Lawrence's retirement in 1985 they moved to Dauphin Island. Ivan was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed flower gardening and birdwatching. She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Dauphin Island United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women and many other church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie W. Cohron and Ruth B. Cohron, and her husband, Lawrence. She is survived by her sons, Charles L. Trotter, Jr., of Huntingdon, Tennessee and Dr. Michael C. Trotter (Diane) of Greenville, Mississippi; five grandchildren: Katherine Trotter, Elizabeth Bryant (Jared), Alexandria Trotter, Paul Arnett, and Alissa LeBoeuf; and three great-grandsons: Bradley LeBoeuf, Holden LeBoeuf, and Jake Haskins. The family wishes to express our deep gratitude to special companion Doris Randle and her excellent team for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Dauphin Island United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
