Floyd Samuel Helton, age 90, of Randolph, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Floyd was born July 29, 1929 in Bibb County, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he earned an Occupation Medal. After his return home, he joined Shady Grove Baptist Church where he was the song director and a deacon for 56 years. Floyd was a jack of all trades - he liked to fix whatever he could before calling in help. He was a farmer all of his life, enjoyed puzzles, and Alabama Football (ROLLTIDE!). Floyd was also a wonderful father to 4 beautiful girls, a grandfather, a great grandfather, and loving husband who will be dearly missed.
Floyd will join in Heaven his parents, Jessie Helton and Eunice Scott Helton; daughter, Robin Ponder; brother, Jimmy Helton; and sister; Martha Niswander.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 69 years, Lindy A. Helton; daughters, Landra L. Helton, DeNay Jackson, and Kimberly Farrington; grandchildren, Ann Deerman (Donnie), Kristi Bearden (Brian), Delvin Farrington (Deb), and Roderick Farrington (Micheala); 10 great - grand children; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his entire Shady Grove Church family.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Randolph, Alabama from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. The funeral service will be held at shady Grove Baptist Church at 2:00pm followed by a burial at Shady Grove Cemetery.
