Jackie was born on June 15, 1933, in Pittsburg, KS, the only child of Cass and Alice Brown. The family moved to Kansas City, MO, when Jackie was 5 years old where she met her best friend, Cynthia Stokes. The two were inseparable for 77 years until Cynthia passed away earlier this year.
Jackie married her sweetheart, Ron, on May 30, 1951. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until he passed away in 2017.
In love and with love Jackie and Ron raised two sons, Randy (Karen) and Mark, and one daughter, Kelly Moorhouse, who predeceased them, (Scott).
Through the years, Jackie and Ron welcomed and loved each child, grandchild, greatgrandchild, niece, nephew and family member and cherished their life-long friendships.
Jackie was a working wife and mom. She was employed by Daniel McCray, as head bookkeeper, and later by Harding Glass Company, as the office and benefits manager.
Jackie loved all family gatherings and cheering on the Chiefs and Royals. Everyone was welcome in her home for all gatherings. She was a faithful Christian and enjoyed working for many years in the church’s food panty and teaching bible school.
In addition, Jackie was always available to help her family and friends. No request for help was too large or too insignificant. She was loved by all but, as her kids and grandkids will attest, she was no pushover when a “lesson” needed to be learned.
Jackie will be missed by all who knew her. She lived her life honorably with love, joy, generosity and no regrets. She will forever live in our hearts.
A visitation and celebration of life service will be held November 16, 2019, at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Road, Independence, MO.
Visitation at 3:00 p.m. followed by service at 4:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
