Roy was born on January 8, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee to Earl and Nina Picklesimer.
Roy spent most of his youth in Sanford, Florida, with his late mother Nina and stepfather Spencer Castle. Nina and Spencer were devout Christians and members of the Nazarene Church in Sanford, FL. This Christian upbringing gave Roy the foundation to lead him to love God and accept Christ as his Lord and savior.
In 1963, at the age of 17, Roy joined the United States Armed Forces, and was discharged in 1965 at the rank of E4. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Sharpshooter (Rifle). After coming home Roy spent 27 years as a Firefighter/EMT with the Sanford Fire Department. Then, another retirement of 7 years with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office as Security Guard, Public Safety Building, Sanford, FL. Roy’s primary passion was his family and friends; utmost being his wife, who he referred to as “Hot Shot”, of which they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
He is preceded in death by his mother Nina Castle, stepfather Spencer Castle, and brother Virgil Picklesimer.
Surviving family members include wife Treeva Picklesimer, Deland, FL; daughter Serena and husband Tom Spence, granddaughters Lydia and Grace Spence, Lutz, FL; son Thurman Roy Picklesimer, Jr., Debary, FL; sister Phyllis Starrett, Debary, FL; and fur baby Bandit.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019, 11:00 AM, at the Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, located at 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, FL.
