Welder and beloved father of five who grew up in Sicily
Former Heartland Village resident Salvatore Mule', 92, a retired iron worker and blacksmith, a devoted family man, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, in the Eger Nursing Home.
Born in Castellamare del Golfo, Sicily, he came to the U.S. when he was 26 years old. He moved his family from Brooklyn to Staten Island in 1967. When he wasn't busy being a welder, Mr. Mule' could be found tending his garden or making homemade wine. He was proud of his five children, seven grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
Salvatore was married for 49 years to Generosa (nee Accardi), who passed in 1997. He was also predeceased by his son, Natale.
Surviving are his children, Anna, Frances, Joseph and Thomas, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will take place Saturday, Nov. 16, in St Margaret Mary Church (Midland Beach) at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Friends will be received in Virginia Funeral Chapel at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Castleton Corners, S.I., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
