Rose A. LaFemina, 89, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019. She was born May 28, 1930 in Norwich, CT. Rose was the daughter of the late Alfio and Domenica (Salpietro) Previtera. She was also predeceased by her husband, Louis Ralph LaFemina.
Rose is survived by her son Gary LaFemina and his wife Christine of Lisbon, CT, daughters Sharon Burns and her husband Tom of Austin, TX, Lori Macie and her husband Dan of Vernon, VT, and Wendy LaFemina and Joe Casey of Niantic, CT. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rose loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a huge presence in all of their lives and was happiest when surrounded by her entire family. She was an avid UConn basketball fan and enjoyed travelling. She is predeceased by one of her favorite travel companions, Jean Sylvestre. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren at Misquamicut Beach. Rose loved life and knew how to get the most out of it. Anyone that knew her could tell you she was vivacious and the life of any social function she attended. She loved spending her summers with her campground families over the years at both Salt Rock and Highland Campgrounds.
Rose worked at both Wonder Bread and Troy Laundry and ultimately retired from the Norwich State Hospital.
Family and friends may visit Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Josephs Church, 120 Cliff St., Norwich on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM with a graveside service to follow. Rose will be interred at St. Josephs Cemetery Boswell Ave., Norwich.
