Ken Yoshiomi Kobayashi, age 78, of Waukegan passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on November 19th 2019. Beloved husband of Reiko for 51 years. Loving father of Yoshi (Laura) Kobayashi, and George Kobayashi. Cherished grandfather of Teiji and Emiko Kobayashi. Brother of Teiko Kobayashi and Teijiro Kobayashi. He was preceded in death by his father Teizo Kobayashi, his mother Shizuko N. Harrison and his stepfather Hubert H. Harrison.
Ken and his wife Reiko immigrated from Japan to the U.S. in 1970, He embraced America and was very proud when he became a naturalized US Citizen. Ken worked for the Waukegan Public Schools and retired after 35 years of service. After retirement, Ken and Reiko loved to drive their motorhome to Yuma, Arizona every winter as well as travel to different locations to see as much of America as they could. In the summer Ken and Reiko spent time taking care of their house and yard and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Ken was always a big personality at any social gathering. He had a bright smile, ready laugh, a fun story to share and a welcome heart for anybody he met. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 30, from 9 AM -12 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee. Interment will be private at Sunset Ridge Cemetery, Kenosha.
