Robert was fond of the outdoors. He loved fishing, dove and duck hunting in his free time. Robert graduated from John Tyler High School, along with teaching there as well. He graduated from North Texas State University with a Doctorate degree in philosophy and a minor in psychology, then went on to share his knowledge as a dedicated world history professor at Tyler Junior College for 35 years and UT Tyler for 5 years. Robert assisted in writing the novels Chronicles of Smith County, Texas, Volume 13 and 28, and Camp Ford, Tyler, Texas: The largest Confederate prison camp west of the Mississippi River. He enjoyed being involved with the reenactments that take place at Camp Ford as well. In his later years, Robert spent his time by the riverside, embracing the water and wildlife. He will be greatly missed by the students he educated and his loving family.
Robert is survived by his son Robert (Luanne) Glover; daughter Beth (John) Spiller; nieces Gracie, Lucy and Kathy; nephew Blake; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years Sandra Glover; parents James W. and Hazel May Glover; and brother James E. Glover.
A graveside service for Robert will occur Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery.
