Trini loved her Lord.
She served as a Sister of Humility of Mary in Ottumwa, Iowa for 20 years. Trini also was an elementary school teacher and taught in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Topeka, Kansas. She served her parish at St Matthews of Topeka, KS as a parish council member, catechist, lectern, and Eucharistic Minister. She served at Christ the King and Sacred Heart schools as a school counselor in Topeka, KS. Trini was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and served as lectern and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Trini was an Oblate of the Benedictine Order and an Associate of the Sisters of Humility of Mary. She was a member of the Kansas Association of School Social Workers.
Trini graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa in May 1949. . In 1956 Trini joined the Heights Convent of Humility in Ottumwa, Iowa and took the name of Sister Mary Lucinda Munõz. Trini earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Mary Crest College in Davenport, Iowa on May 28th, 1967. Trini graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master’s degree in Social Work.
Trini is preceded in death by her first husband, Zachary Perez in 2002 and her brother Victor Munõz.
Trini is survived by husband Frank Velasquez Independence, MO, son Francisco “Poncho” Perez Lawrence, KS., stepson Zack Gerard Perez of Topeka, Ks. Trini is survived by 6 stepchildren; Steve Velasquez of Blue Springs, MO, Rita Wright and husband Joe of Lawson, MO, Kathy Sitton and husband Rick, Independence, MO, Sal Velasquez of Overland Park, KS, Tony Velasquez and wife Leah of Lee’s Summit, MO and Frances Benkovich and husband Mark of Kansas City, MO. Also survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Thomas Munõz of Des Moines, Paul Joseph Munõz and wife Colleen of Anchorage, Ak, Sister Irene of Munõz, Ottumwa, IA, Sister Molly Munõz of Denver CO and Virgie Munõz of Denver, CO.]
