Patrick J. McLaughlin, 73, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 with his family by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 20, 1946 he resided in Queens, NY and graduated in 1963 from Marist Preparatory in Esopus, NY. After graduation he moved to Red Bank, NJ and received a certification in electronics from the Electronic Institute in Eatontown, NJ.
While living in Monmouth County, he worked for a few different companies including Two Guys in Middletown, where he met his future bride, Harriet. In 1966, he enlisted in the US Army and earned his Military Occupational Specialty in electronics. After assignments in New Jersey, Virginia and California, he began his tour of duty in Vietnam, where he was stationed in Nha Trang. In1969, after his honorable discharge from the Army he transferred to the US Army Reserves where he served 3 years. He then served several years in the New Jersey National Guard. In 1969, he began his career at Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ, eventually retiring from Avaya, Inc.
Patrick went on to raise two daughters with his wife Harriet, eventually settling in Manchester, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents Patrick and Anne and his loving wife Harriet. Surviving are his two daughters Colleen McLaughlin and her husband Greg, and Patricia Marin and her husband Eric; and his brother Robert McLaughlin. He was a devoted Pop Pop to his beloved grandchildren, Brittany and William McLaughlin and Eric John, Jacob and Connor Marin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 pm on Tuesday December 3, 2019, at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday December 4, 2019, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
