Surviving her is husband Andrew, children Matthew and Abbey followed by pets Elroy (dog), Marty, Frank and Beans. (cats).
Hayley was the youngest of 4 children to (pre deceased) Keith and Carol Haakenson.
Growing up on an acreage outside Beaumont, Hayley started her education in New Serepta later graduating from Holy Trinity High School in Edmonton (1988)
Hayley furthered her education at Red Deer College where she obtained her diploma in Rehabilitation Practitioner, while creating friendships that lasted a life time. (1993)
Hayley married Andrew in 1994 and after a short time in Edmonton they moved to the Edson area where her family grew. She continued working and adopting animals until the arrival of their first born Matthew (1995), and shortly after Abbey (1997). Hayley loved being a mother and she continued to challenge her ‘craftyness’ with numerous homemade outfits for the kids.
In 2000 the family relocated to the Edmonton area and Hayley continued her career working in group homes, creating lasting impressions on many lives. Busy as could be, she could be found renovating a house to put her special touch to create the perfect ‘home’ feeling. Her definition of a relaxing afternoon was painting a wall or tiling a bathroom.
In 2009 Hayley and family moved to an acreage in Parkland County, later moving to a home in Stony Plain where she worked as a case worker for “Family Support for Children with Disabilities”(FSCD), and would develop a special spot in her heart for each family and their pets (of course).
Hayley loved being a mother and was always the number one advocate for her children and could be found baking extravagant desserts, popping popcorn, restoring furniture, cheering on various sporting events, or offering a helping hand as a volunteer for the school and community committees.
Hayley always found peace and comfort through the love of family trips and sitting by a campfire with her friends and family for a wiener roast.
Her outlook on life of “it is what it is”, love for family, friends and pets will be greatly missed.
